Homeschool Mum needs to Know
The day to day journey as a homeschool mum brings lots of challenges and sometimes doubts and questions. These 5 little checks help us keep on the path we have chosen.Understand we are living for God not for people
We are answerable to God. The cry in my heart is that God says to me, “Belinda, good and faithful servant….” Matt 25:23
There will always be critics – but what does God say?Take the first step in faith
God rewards faith. He won’t let you fall. Faith isn’t for the beginners, regardless of how much experience you have as a homeschooler it is always a journey of faith. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Rom 10:17
. We must know God’s Word and stand on it, when we do our faith is made stronger.Know your task However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace Acts 20:24
In this verse we learn that we are to first and foremost testify, even to our children, the gospel of God’s grace – Salvation, Jesus!
Is our homeschool built on what God requires or on the model of success the world shows us?
Don’t be distracted
To be honest, the biggest distraction I find is a really good curriculum! But I want to settle for God-things, not the good-things in life! My son, give me your heart and let your eyes keep to my ways. Pr 23:26 (disclaimer: I’m not saying here at all not to have curriculum, God has directed my feet to very good curriculum, but I know my heart and I often see it turn from God and His Word onto the good stuff I buy at the Homeschool Suppliers)
Be a servant
A good leader gets their hands dirty. It is easy to sit in the comfort of position and let others do the work, but a true leader walks besides their followers showing them how to go through the situations they find themselves in. Impress them [God’s law] on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deut 6:7 We can’t hide behind the instructions in the teacher’s manual – we need to get our hands dirty. Walk the walk with our children.
Live life with your kids!
