Teach from your Heart - Issue 377
April 17, 2015
|Hi there! ....
Last week was a very strange week for me - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Daniel was at youth camp which left me at home by myself for 3 days. Jess was home in the evening, but with Nomi and Josh still over East, Pete gone for work - it left me with the daytime to myself. At first I wasn't sure how I was going to handle it - I know it seems like a dream: space, time, peace all to myself, but reality is I expected to miss my family, and find myself at a bit of a loose end. Well, I coped, and I found plenty to do!
Then after Daniel came home, I took a week old baby for 1 week's respite care. There's another strange shift. A one week old baby! You forget how tiny they are - how dependent upon you they are. Thankfully she is a placid baby - happy to feed and sleep!
Daniel enjoyed youth camp - came home talking about personal growth issues (which is always a good thing after a youth camp!). He became the unofficial camp photographer and came home with over 700 photos!! He has weeded out the best - and he's taken some good ones. It is good to see the improvement in his photography.
We welcomed back Naomi last night. She has been away for close to 3 weeks. She had a ball with friends, family and Easterfest (Australia's premier Gospel festival). We spent the evening over a very simple meal (toasties) and sharing photos and updates with each other. Even though she stayed in touch while she was away - and shared photos on Facebook - there is nothing like catching up face to face.
I'm off to a birthday party for the little girl we regularly have here as foster-respite - she turns 3 - so in order to save time with sending out this email I'm going to direct you to my blog - this morning I shared "Teach from your Heart". When we teach from our heart we teach from relationship and we create greater influence. I hope you take the time to click over there and have a read.
Live life with your Kids!
Last week I blogged Relief that comes with a sunset.
Picture books for Anzac Day - for young and old.
and last week's newsletter article in case you missed it: Helping our Children with Disappointment
Blending Life with Lessons e-book - Does your everyday life challenge your homeschool ideas? This is my journey as I discover that it is possible to disciple my children in today's busy lifestyle.
Heart Focus Parenting book/e-book - A heart focused parent will keep their attention on their child's heart for God, instead of on external behaviours.
Restoring the Heart, Mind and Soul of Christmas Do your Christmas celebrations line up with what you believe? Do your celebrations help your children learn more about Jesus?
This e-book is based on a workshop I held for a couple of years to help families see that Christmas can be a significant tradition in our family life. If we are intentional about how our family celebrates we have the opportunity to use this time to teach our children about Jesus, and his love for each one of us.
