Parents: Don't settle for Normal - Issue 370
January 17, 2015
|Hi there! ....
Happy New Year!
Since Christmas our family has been on a week-long holiday in Darwin - the closest city (10 hours driving away). We had a fun filled time there. It has been a while since we've had a break in Darwin - holidays certainly are different with big kids. We did movies, ten pin bowling, shopping, water parks, war museum, walks on beach, tried different cuisine and caught up with friends. It was a good time together.
Since then we have been working on tidying up around the house and yard for a couple of hours each day. The kids have been working outside with Peter and I've pottered around the house. It sure is nice having the house to yourself for a while!
But we've also taken a few opportunities to check out some waterholes with friends. I love the wet season once the rains begin.
Josh has been over in Brisbane with a conference catching up with old friends and making new ones. He has been accepted in a 3 month internship with Christians in public policy - that starts towards the end of February so he'll be leaving home - which will be a big change for us all.
I still have a few weeks before we start our study season so I am still working on our final plans. I now only have one child at home homeschooling, though I will be helping Naomi transition into adult learning with distance TAFE.
Life is always changing isn't it!
This week I'm talking about not settling for normal

Restoring the Heart, Mind and Soul of Christmas Do your Christmas celebrations line up with what you believe? Do your celebrations help your children learn more about Jesus?
This e-book is based on a workshop I held for a couple of years to help families see that Christmas can be a significant tradition in our family life. If we are intentional about how our family celebrates we have the opportunity to use this time to teach our children about Jesus, and his love for each one of us.
