2012 by Faith - Issue 233
January 13, 2012
Hi there! ....

This week we began our family holiday by flying south. We have had the opportunity to catch up with old friends before we spend time with my family – though it has been years since we’ve seen each other we slip into talking like we catch up each week. It is a blessing to have such great family friends.

This coming Thursday I have a Mums Meet in Berwick or Packenham, Vic, so if you are in that area and would like to catch up for some encouragement, then check out the details here.

Live life with your kids!

If you are an Australian reader I would appreciate you reading this special request.

2012 by Faith

I’d like to share with you, just briefly, some thoughts from a sermon that Peter preached last week.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The key words here are – without faith it is impossible to please Him.

What are we planning to do this year? Will it please God? According to this verse – it will please God if it is done in faith.

Is faith required to work out the plans, the path ahead of you, or can you do it in your own strength? Is it still within your comfort zone?

How easy it is to set plans presumptuously assuming that God will bless them.

Are our plans being drawn out of conviction born out of our reading and meditating on the Word of God? Out of our desire to respond to a principle, a truth, or a conviction found in God’s Word?

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1) This means that we may not know the how, or why, but if God has put something on our heart then we can believe that He will bring it to pass. He will provide a way. Do we believe that?

Romans 10:17 So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

When we hear the word of God (read the Bible) faith will be given, and/or strengthened, and with that faith we can step out and do the things that will please God.

I read this week the difference between good intentions and God intentions and I quote from Weird: Because Normal isn’t Working by Craig Groeschel:

“Good intentions are the ideas we have that motivate us to set and achieve the goals that we seriously, genuinely want to accomplish. God intentions go way beyond this, because they rely on discovering and acting on what He wants us to do. Whereas good intentions are what we come up with, God intentions are our Father’s ideas”

Are your plans for 2012 your ideas or are they based on faith, knowing that is what God is asking of you?
