Christmas 2011 - Issue 230
December 23, 2011
Hi there! ....

There is no full newsletter this week: I decided to pull the plug on my online activity Friday morning. But I do want to wish you all a merry Christmas. May you make the most of this family celebration to pass onto your children what you believe and why. Christmas is about Christ – we need to make sure He doesn’t get lost in amongst all the food, presents and partying!

I have spoken to a few people who are going through tough times this Christmas and each one of them has said to me that they were holding onto the words: Peace, Hope and Joy. These words are associated with Christmas and the message the angels told the shepherds. Much like most of the birth of Christ story we can become overfamiliar with these three words. But may I encourage you to think through what these words mean to you this year and how they are going to affect you.

Peace: Freedom from agitation or disturbance by the passions, as from fear, terror, anger, anxiety or the like; quietness of mind; tranquillity; calmness; quiet of conscience.

Hope: Confidence in a future event; the highest degree of well founded expectation of good; as a hope founded on God's gracious promises.

Joy: Joy is a delight of the mind, from the consideration of the present or assured approaching possession of a good.

Christmas is all about God’s goodness to us: let us believe in that goodness so much that it affects how we live our life.
